Xlim-1; dorsal lip, pronephros, nervous system
Xlim-1, nucleic acid
Cloned by Masanori Taira et al., in Igor Dawid's lab at the NICHD (1992). Expression in the pronephros and CNS described by Taira et al., 1993. A homeobox and lim domain gene required for axial patterning and kidney development in mice. Ectopic expression of mutant Xlim-1 induces secondary axes in Xenopus (Taira et al., 1994b). Early expression in dorsal lip and notochord, later expression in pronephros and CNS.

A. Ventrolateral view (anterior to the left) of a stage 14 embryo, expression is in a broad stripe in the lateral mesoderm.
B. Stage 17/18 neurula (dorsal view, anterior to the left). Expression in the neural tube, and in the presumptive pronephros (black arrow).
C. Lateral view of stage 26 tailbud. Expression in pronephros, CNS and tailbud.
