What's New in Xenopus research at the XMMR?
What's New at the Xenopus Molecular Marker Resource?
- gene expression patterns are finally migrating to Xenbase. The link to shh below is a good example. The new format will link in a ot of information when completed.
- shh, Apr 25, 2001
- Xenbase. Xenbase is the next generation frog web site with many new features. The XMMR will be maintained but all new expansion will occur at Xenbase. The marker images of the XMMR are in the process of being copied over and enhanced.
- better NCBI links are being constantly added, visit some markers and let us know if you would like more/different links... The NCBI icon takes you to the NCBI, the name link takes you to PubMed papers by that author, and the subject link will search for related papers for you.
- an enormous number of Xenopus laevis AND tropicalis libraries are now available. Visit the libraries page. Apr 20, 2000

- A new search engine has been added (see the opening Welcome page), as the old version had some updating problems. This version requires Java (sorry to those of you who do not have this capacity). If you do not have Java it will not be visible. The search will show some advertisments when the results are shown, the price we pay for a free, fast search service. This service provides me with a weekly summary of searched terms, and I will attempt to add as many of the requested items as is possible. June 1, 1999.
- A direct link to the babelfish translator has been added to the welcome page. Simply click on the "Translate this page" botton and select the language you would like it translated to, an amazing free service!
- Final report from the Xenopus representatives at the NIH meeting on non-mammalian model systems. Please read this report.
- there is a new "other sites" page that more conveniently makes popular journals links, other labs, grants, searches, and many others, easier to use. The old page is still in place if you would prefer to bookmark it. Added May 4, 1999.
- Figure illustrating the life cycle, and useful embryonic stages of Xenopus. A high resolution (0.8 MB LZW compression) tiff file, a high resolution (0.5 MB) jpg file (either one can be used to generate a high quality slide) and a low resolution (0.01 MB) jpg file (suitable for a web page) are provided on the Xenopus stages page.

- A counter has been added to both the opening Welcome Page and to the White Pages. Although in general these web pages are kept as simple as possible, making them both fast to load and functional with both basic and advanced web browsers, following the use of the page more closely will allow us to plan for changes and upgrades more effectively.

- A very powerful search function has been added by John Cordell. 30.3.97. Searches show the text that was matched and give a link to the page, so you know if you want to jump to it before you waste time. The WebGlimpse program can also allow spelling errors and can be set to bring up only recently modified pages, so for example you could type in "neural" and select "modified in last 20 days" and bring up all the new neural markers. Many thanks to John for compiling the code to run on NeXTSTEP!
