UniProtKB Protein Function: Ligand for members of the frizzled family of seven transmembrane receptors.

AI Protein Function : wnt5b encodes a secreted Wnt signaling ligand that activates non‑canonical planar cell polarity pathways; it is required for convergent extension movements during gastrulation, regulates neural crest cell migration, influences pronephric tubule morphogenesis, modulates heart tube formation, directs otic vesicle patterning, contributes to dorsal axis specification, controls tail bud outgrowth, and affects melanophore distribution; the protein is processed through the secretory pathway, localizes to the extracellular space and can associate with the cell membrane; expression is observed in the dorsal mesoderm, neural plate border, developing kidney, heart field, otic placode, somites, and tailbud.
