AI Protein Function : lrp2 encodes a large plasma‑membrane LDL‑receptor family member that functions as a multi‑ligand endocytic receptor mediating uptake of vitamin D‑binding protein, retinol‑binding protein, albumin and related ligands; it is required for pronephric tubule development and fluid homeostasis, contributes to otic vesicle morphogenesis, and participates in regulation of the brain ventricular system; the protein localizes to the apical surface of pronephric epithelial cells, otic epithelium, and neuroepithelial cells and is internalized into early endosomes after ligand binding.
